My practice specialises in working with people 16 years and over who are experiencing symptoms of trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, chronic pain, bereavement and loss. There may also be times you're feeling more reactive, experiencing relationship issues and are unsure why. There might be feelings of being stuck and not knowing which path to choose at certain points in life.
It can bring about clarity and healing to work with someone confidentially. My approach is to be person centred, non-judgemental and work alongside you on your goals.

Internal Family Systems
The Internal Family Systems (IFS) approach to psychotherapy helps understand your inner world and in turn brings about transformation and healing.
The IFS model was developed by Dr Richard C. Schwartz PhD in the 1980s and is evidence-based method for treating depression, anxiety, PTSD and chronic pain.
IFS is based on the principle that there is an undamaged, resourceful Self at the core of every person and that accessing and working with that Self is a safe, effective way to heal body, mind & spirit.
How does an IFS session work?
Typically we start with how your feeling and what issues you would like to discuss. I gently guide you to go inside and get to know a part or parts. This process can often be illuminating and create space and healing. At times you may release burdens and heal wounds in your inner psyche. This can impact your whole being in a positive way.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between counselling and psychotherapy?
Professional counselling is a safe and confidential collaboration between qualified counsellors and clients to promote mental health and wellbeing, enhance self-understanding, and resolve identified concerns. Clients are active participants in the counselling process at every stage. Counselling may be short term or long term (PACFA).
Psychotherapy is a holistic engagement that focuses on the mental, emotional, relational or spiritual health of a human being. It is useful when psychological, developmental, relationship and wellbeing issues arise in life. A psychotherapist engages with a person to build understanding and acceptance of how the person makes meaning of their life.
Are the sessions confidential?
Yes they are in the sense it’s a safe place for you to explore feelings, emotions and thoughts however confidentiality is limited when there are risks to the safety of the client or others. If there is risks to your safety or others I will talk to you about this in more detail.
Do I need a Mental Health plan to see you?
You don’t need to obtain a GP referral to see me, this means counselling is confidential and does not appear in your medical records.
